She Codes Too is proud to announce the launch of the She Codes Too x Coursera Scholarship Programme, giving 150 women from across Iraq full access to high-quality tech and data education. The programme builds on the partnership we joined through Coursera's Social Impact programme, which awarded She Codes Too 500 licences to put directly into the hands of women who need them most.

For this first cohort, scholars receive access to Coursera's full catalogue of accredited courses, hands-on projects, and industry-recognised certifications. The programme is self-paced over four months, so participants can learn around work, study, and family commitments, with personalised guidance from the She Codes Too team throughout.

A Competitive First Cohort

We received around 400 applications, in just two weeks of opening the application for this cohort!. And selected 150 scholars, a reflection of both the demand for accessible tech education in Iraq and the calibre of the women applying. The scholars come from 15 governorates, ranging in age from 18 to over 40, with most between 20 and 29. With the remaining licences from our Coursera partnership, we will continue opening this opportunity to more women in the cohorts ahead.

What Scholars Are Studying

Scholars are pursuing a range of career-focused tracks aligned with where the market is heading, including:

  • Data Analysis
  • Project Management
  • Digital Marketing
  • Frontend Development
  • Web Development
  • UI/UX Design

Each track is chosen to build practical, job-ready skills that scholars can apply locally — whether that means a first role, a freelance project, or a step up in their current career.

Why It Matters

Across Iraq, talented women still face real barriers to reputable, industry-aligned tech education. Programmes like this one help close that gap, not by lowering the bar, but by opening the door, pairing world-class course content with the community, follow-up, and encouragement that keep learners moving forward. This is what She Codes Too has always set out to do, and the Coursera partnership lets us do it at a greater scale than ever before.

Looking Ahead

This is only the beginning. We are committed to continuing this education well beyond a single cohort: once this four-month programme concludes, applications will reopen for the next group of scholars, and we will keep building career pathways that carry women from foundational skills through to employment.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Coursera for standing with us and for believing in the women of Iraq. Their collaboration makes it possible for us to reach further, and we look forward to growing this work together in the years to come.

Stay tuned for updates as our scholars progress through the programme. For more information about our programmes and initiatives, visit She Codes Too News.
